Bridget Anese
Educator and Composer
What is your musical background?
I have been singing before I could talk! Music has always been a passion, and one of my first inspirations was my primary school principal who realised the power of music and directed the Music Theatre productions. I graduated from the Conservatorium of Music in 2009 and completed my Grad Diploma of Education at UQ in 2010. I performed in Birralee throughout high school and was part of the 2018 Le Hamel tour in France. I have been conducting choirs since 2010 and teaching classroom music since 2011, in Townsville and Brisbane. Composing music has been a fun side quest for a few years and I am excited to actually get my music out there! I have also arranged a couple of school songs for choir and concert band. As of 2025, I am Music Coordinator at Ascot State School.
What is your advice to singers performing your works?
Have fun with it! Immerse yourself in different characters and stories. Sell the story to the audience and make it your own. I try to write music that is accessible to choristers of different levels of experience. Conductors, please reach out if you have any questions and I would love an invitation to come see a performance in the Brisbane area.

What are your favourite pieces you’ve composed?
Monster has been one of my favourite songs to write – it’s been a hit with my own choirs. A good one to get boys interested in choir too! Fairy Bread is fun too.
