What is your musical background?
I have a piano, vocal, and choral background, with a B.Mus.Hons in piano performance from Griffith Conservatorium and many years’ experience accompanying and conducting choirs. Choral music is my passion! My work in the choral industry has given me a huge appreciation for topically relevant repertoire that appeals to audiences and performers alike, and also repertoire that encourages choristers to develop new skills and techniques while supporting them to perform at their very best. I try to incorporate these elements into my own works in the hope that other conductors may also find them useful.
What is your advice to singers performing your works?
You each bring your own personal histories and experience to your music. Try and ‘lock in’ to what each piece means to you (which may be totally different to that of your fellow chorister). Your authenticity and connection to a piece is, above all else, what makes a performance amazing and memorable. The power is in your hands!

What are your favourite pieces you’ve composed?
I love We Will Make a Change and Rise Up, as they remind me that we each have tremendous power to be a change for good in our own and other people’s lives.
