Lachlan writes: Bolt is from a children’s opera I’ve composed called Mulga Bill’s Bicycle, premiering at The Concourse in Sydney with a treble chorus and soloists from Musgrove Opera. This is a two-part arrangement for concert performance, and depicts the moment Mulga Bill comes racing down the hill, falls off his bike and flies through the air!! I love Mulga Bill’s poem by the legendary Banjo Paterson. I sat thinking about the story of Mulga Bill for a long time, trying to find the right musical setting, and I tried to capture some of the excitement in this piece.
