Description
The GARDEN PALACE, set in what is now the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney, was a large, purpose-built exhibition building constructed to house the Sydney International Exhibition in 1879. Its central dome was, at the time, the forth largest in the world, with a statue of Queen Victoria at the centre. The building was almost completely destroyed by an early-morning fire in 1882. Many precious artefacts from Australia and across the globe went up in smoke together.
This is a challenging piece starts off in 4-parts (SATB), then splits to 6-parts (SSATBarB). It requires a good pianist.
Dome is also available for SSAA with piano.
Please note that the audio demo below the score is a live performance of the four-part treble version,
