Ruth writes: This song was written in honour of Australian composer Martin Wesley-Smith, with the pitches derived from the letters of his name (some transposition was necessary!) The song was performed for Martin by the Song Company in a concert held in Kangaroo Valley two months before his death, along with many of his compositions for voice. Martin died in September 2019.
