Description
Christina writes: I wrote the song in response to the Bali 9 executions. This was both a terrible and terribly complex situation combined with a frenzied media storm. I found the whole thing, including the backstories of the convicted people overwhelming. I wanted to write a simple song that I could take to choir on the night of the executions.
A number of groups in Australia and the UK have sung it. Let There be Peace has been sung at memorials, funerals, demos, rallies, folk sessions, even yoga classes! It was sung in Tetum and Portuguese on Dili Square at the 20 year commemoration of Timor Leste’s first democratic elections.
