Description

Abigail writes: “Sandcastles was inspired by trips to the Gold Coast as a family, where my brother and I would make sandcastles and tell stories to each other. The piece grew out of that love for imagination, and for stories that grow to be larger than life.” 

This enchanting song about the joys of playing together by the sea was commissioned by Voices of Birralee for Queensland in Song 2022. Watch the live performance below (provided courtesty of Birralee). The rhythms rock between a feeling of compound and duple time.
