Description
This Latin Mass is approximately 35 minutes long and contains these traditional sections: Kyrie, Gloria, Credo, Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei. The work contains occasional divisi and some soprano solo phrases. It also heavily features the piano, with a Prelude and 2 shorter Interludes in the latter sections.
Ruth writes: “I called this work The Singer’s Mass because I wanted the singers to enjoy themselves – long, beautiful homophonic lines and some challenges! If singers enjoy it, then they will sing it well.”
The Singer’s Mass in its entirety was first performed by Choristry, Melbourne 2023 and some of the recordings and segments are of that performance. The live recordings of the Kyrie and Agnus Dei has organ accompaniment instead of piano and were performed by Echology in Newcastle, NSW.
